Arcam FMJ AVR600
Arcam has released the FMJ AVR600. Nicknamed the ‘Bauhaus Powerhouse’, it’s a High-Definition 7.1-channel home cinema receiver and represents the largest project ever undertaken by Arcam.
Representing a ‘tour de force’ in high-performance AV, the AVR600 focuses on delivering state of the art sound and video processing with an all-encompassing technical spec.
The first FMJ (Full Metal Jacket) high-end receiver, it uses six-layer PCBs and ultra high precision digital audio and video circuits and houses a huge toroidal power transformer with super efficient class G amplifiers that provide ample power for demanding material without consuming so much it gets too hot.
Power is rated at 120W per channel over all seven channels. 1080p video scaling and processing for all sources promises to turn SD images as close to HD as possible, while there’s obviously support for all next-gen sound formats including DTS-HD Master, DTS High Resolution, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus.
The AVR600 also offers over 100 input, output and control connections from analogue to I/O high speed HDMI and is equipped to deal with pretty much any AV scenario from high-end home cinemas to full custom installs.
Arcam also makes it clear that the AVR600 is not just a home cinema receiver but also a high-end stereo hi-fi amp and the best sounding AV receiver on the market ‘bar none’.
The networked version supports up to three zones simultaneously and has every facet needed to support a custom install. It also features an advanced networking card with internet radio and PC/Mac streaming.
