I have done a little Onkyo TX-RZ3100 vs Denon AVR-x6300h test. I wanted to see which of the two were better.

Denon has the LFE Main so it passes more bass to the subwoofer. +1 for Denon

On Onkyo you can set up display through HDMI and with Denon you add a small monitor, TV or Projector to the main HDMI out and you can even setup display on both of them. Setting up Onkyo will take a lot more time – maybe 4-5 more hours. Their menu is very complex and not everyone will be able to figure things out. Definitely not recommended for beginners. +1 for Denon which takes about 2-3 hours to set up.

When it comes to power, Onkyo wins it. +1 for Onkyo

But, Denon has a warmer sound and the dialogues are much clearer. +1 for Denon

Customer support: Onkyo is so-so, Denon is good. +1 for Denon.

Well, I guess everyone knows where this is heading. The Onkyo TX-RZ3100 vs Denon AVR-x6300h battle is clearly won by Denon which is cheaper and better overall.

I was under the impression that the Onkyo TX-RZ3100 is better but from everything you’ve said, it seems the opposite is true. I’m actually pretty impressed with what this Denon can do.

From the looks of things the Onkyo doesn’t have a thing on the Denon model. Was expecting something like this. Onkyo doesn’t inspire trust, at least not to me. I never liked them and after hearing about the issues people had with their models, I’m even more convinced they aren’t among the best.

I can’t believe Onkyo did so badly in your test. Onkyo is among the brands I liked for av receivers and I didn’t know a lot about Denon. This was sort of surprising.

Onkyo has a few models that are worthwhile but in general Denon, Yamaha and Sony models are a better choice overall.

I agree with your review totally, Zamdo. Onkyo models are often faulty although they do have a few that seem quite interesting. Denon seems like a much more reliable brand overall and they have a few masterpieces.
