Yamaha AVENTAGE  RX-A3070BL – it’s usually sold for around $2000 but it is one of the best (if not the best) that Yamaha has to offer right now. 150 wpc, 11.2 functionality and very powerful (too much for smaller systems so avoid it in that case).

If you’re looking for a cheaper Yamaha, then I highly recommend Yamaha RX-V483. Probably the best pure 5.1 receiver I have seen.

The Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A1070 is a good option as well. And it is between the price tag of the two already mentioned. This is at the intersection between mid-range and high-end receivers.

I know it’s probably not as good as the RX-A3070BL but the Yamaha RX-V683 is pretty good, especially considering it is a third of the price.

I agree that the RX-1070 is a good option if you want a good, mid-range receiver. Also, the RX-V683 is very good for its price range. If you want (and have the budget for it) a beast, then choose the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A3070BL.
