Outlaw Audio a known name in audio, and the company has become fairly famous for making high quality, low cost audio products that it then sells only from its website.
One of its newest launches is Outlaw Model 976, a 7.2-channel surround processor that has just become available. And that too, in time for Christmas — the device is up for preorder right now and can be in your hands within three weeks.
Let’s get down to specifications, then.
The Outlaw Model 976 provides six HDMI inputs, four of which are version 2.0b with HDCP 2.2 and two are version 1.4. It also houses two HDMI outputs, one 2.0b with HDCP 2.2, the other is 1.4.
Other inputs include two coaxial and two optical digital audio inputs, and four stereo analog audio inputs as unbalanced RCA connectors. There’s also one 7.1 analog audio with also unbalanced RCA connectors).
Ideally for audiophiles, the 7.2-channel outputs on the Outlaw Model 976 include both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR connectors.
Better yet, the dual-core DSP can decode Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS-HD Master Audio and High-Resolution Audio, as well as regular DTS bitstreams.
Support for immersive audio formats like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X is also provided.
On the video side of things, the Outlaw Model 976 offers support for a data rate of 18 Gbps on the four HDMI 2.0b inputs and the HDMI 2.0b output. While the other HDMI inputs and output have a top data rate of 10.2 Gbps.
And the price? Just $899.
To sweeten the deal, the company also offers special discounts of anywhere from $100 to $200, depending on how early you order, and whether you have purchased products from Outlaw within the last ten years.
