Wharfedale DX-2 Aims To Deliver Home Cinema Sound

Wharfedale DX-2

On a budget. Wharfedale is a company that takes their time with things. It has been six years since they launched the DX-1, and now they are finally here with a successor.

A lot has changed since then — sound bars are now a must for a quality TV viewing experience, and technologies like Dolby Atmos do the same for movies. How can then, a system like DX-2 set itself apart from the competition.

Well, Wharfedale hopes that it can sway users away with an imposing speakers package.

And this new unit, comprising of four satellite speakers for the front and rear channels, and a center speaker and active subwoofer, deliver a punchy 5.1 surround sound. You can even expand to a 7.1 system or beyond by picking up extra pairs of satellite speakers.

If you do, you are certain to find finely tuned drive units, and a more powerful active sub to go with improved cabinet design.

The system looks as good as it sounds, and this is something that not everyone can offer.

In terms of technical specifications, we have the satellites that house a 20mm silk dome tweeter with 7.5cm mid/bass driver. The center channel, meanwhile, incorporates the same tweeter flanked by a pair of the 7.5cm mid/bass units to deliver bombastic sound.

Also included is the WH-D8 sub, which has a 20cm long-throw bass driver, that is powered by a steady 70-watt amp.

The Wharfedale DX-2 has initially been made available in black, but the company plans to released one with a white finish later down the road.

You will be able to get your hands on this system starting next month.
